PRS Perspective
Pusen DISS® Series single-use ureteroscopes — PUSEN DISS® 6.3, PUSEN DISS® 7.5, and PUSEN DISS® 9.2 — are suction-integrated ureteroscopes used for ureteroscopy and stone treatment. Documentation is the hinge: the surgeon’s operative note should name the exact PUSEN DISS® scope used, not merely state that “suction was used.” This language belongs in the operative note only; it does not need to be added to Box 19 of the CMS-1500 or FL 80 of the UB-04.
Key Coding Takeaway
Physicians report the applicable CPT® ureteroscopy/lithotripsy code (52353 or 52356) and do not report facility codes (C9761, C8014, C1747, or C1889). Facilities report C9761 for DISS® cases in the ASC and HOPD; C8014 is not used with a DISS® scope. For Medicare HOPD claims, report C1747 (and C1889 if a suction-enabled sheath is used) with device charges; these are packaged and paid $0. Medicare does not require these device codes in the ASC. Commercial payer rules may differ.
